My Place To Need
My dear Tricia,
When I was young I did not know
The direction my life would go.
I was a wind tossed tumble weed
Searching to have a place to need.
Now at my age I can tell it true
My place of need was next to you
Sharing from "see" to shining "see",
A marriage of ours sailed to be.
Sometimes, I am a loving louse
Inadequate to be your spouse
Sometimes, I go the extra mile
Grateful to have made you smile.
Then there you are still loving me,
Keeping our two hearts tied freely.
Yes dear, I'm just a simple man.
God can give us more than I can.
Working hard to give what we did
Was God's gift of love for each kid
Now the struggle with aches and pains
Makes us wonder when are the canes.
The warmth of the feel your hugging does,
Still makes your door bell the one to buzz.
Our kissing on the back porch, dear,
By golly is what sped me here.
I can still feel your tight embrace
That told me I needed this place.
I'm happy to be your spouse forever.
Love,
Jim
